Job Scope:
The job of a technical manager is highly complex and requires efficiency in both technical
as well as management fields. The technical
manager manages several types of capabilities like handling teams, estimating project budgets, scheduling project timelines, arranging for resources and also helping in solving technical problems when needed.
The technical manager is responsible for project planning, setting targets and deliverables,
making decisions and bringing in business, these aspects covers Design, production, and support.
Main Responsibilities:
- Manage the company’s R&D, Technical Support and Production functions to meet budgeted financial performance.
- Develop new products by top management agreement.
- Oversee and co-ordinate production of mechanical, electronic, electrical and software components of company’s products and systems.
- Manage the generation and preservation of company intellectual property, including archiving/storage of designs, documentation of know-how, and
preparation of patent applications and general maintenance of the company’s IP
portfolio.
- Provide product support and other technical support to operational functions in the most efficient manner for all concerned parties.
- Maintain a clear view at all times of the R&D and Technical Support forecast technical and financial performance (both deliverables and
spend)
- Promote a climate and culture where quality issues are addressed effectively, as part of everyone’s normal function.
- Improve the effectiveness of the department’s internal systems;
increasing efficiency and reducing administrative overhead.
- Attract, retain and motivate people to improve the company’s performance.
- Report regularly on key aspects of the business, in accordance with
routine and ad-hoc reporting requirements.
- Provide relevant technical information to operations staff to enable proper operation and maintenance for the company products and systems.
- Manage departments’ financials including cash flow, costing, contracting and collection.
- Manage and coordinate project execution plans for production and road-mapping for engineering as well as coordinating with other departments’
plans.
- Delegate and allocate responsibilities efficiently to manage projects end to end.
