Principal Accountabilities:Data CollectionConstruct data accumulation systems for a cost accounting systemCreate and review the controls needed for data accumulation and reporting systemsInventoryCoordinate physical inventory counts and cycle countsInvestigate cycle counting variances and resolve issuesUpdate standard costs in the bill of materialsReview standard and actual costs for inaccuraciesValidate the cost of goods sold as part of the month-end closeAccumulate and apply overhead costs as required by generally accepted accounting principlesWork with the materials review board to locate and dispose of obsolete inventoryAnalysisConduct ongoing process constraint analysesReport on breakeven points by products, work centers, and factoriesReport on margins by product and divisionReport on periodic variances and their causes, focusing in particular on spending variancesAnalyze capital budgeting requestsPerform cost accumulation tasks as a member of the target costing group
