• Implement & control operating budgets; monitor the cost, effectiveness, and reliability of quality assurance activities to optimise resources, prioritise spending, and ensure that targets and standards are met.
• Study quality assurance activities and prepare recommendations for implementation about significant changes to be made to the organisation’s manufacturing processes, systems, technology, raw materials, inputs, or vendors.
• Develop & assess the implementation of schedules, project plans, and cost estimates for implementing new activities, procedures, or methods to improve the quality and performance of the organisation’s products with functional and operational area managers.
• Liaise with external suppliers (for example, equipment vendors and raw material suppliers) to ensure that their products meet the organisation’s quality standards and that the organisation receives satisfactory standards of service.
• Implement and assess the status of the quality and research strategic planning and decision-making so that the research and development strategy is aligned with the long-term vision, mission, and objectives of the organization.
• Manage the R&D budget; monitor the cost and effectiveness of R&D activities to optimize resources, prioritize spending, and maintain professional standards.
• Manage the day to day activities of a team of researchers whose activities may include devising research methods; setting-up Laboratory test equipment; building models and prototypes; calculating and analyzing test results; preparing technical specifications; and designing prototypes
• Ensure that the costs, resources, and time required to implement the organization’s annual R&D goals and monitor the performance of research projects to ensure targets are met within designed budget and allocated resources.
