ASSISTANT TRAINING OFFICER for EDITING and REPORTING

1. ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT.

The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees was established on December 14, 1950 by the United Nations General Assembly. The agency is mandated to lead and co-ordinate international action to protect refugees and resolve refugee problems worldwide. Its primary purpose is to safeguard the rights and well-being of refugees. It strives to ensure that everyone can exercise the right to seek asylum and find safe refuge in another State, with the option to return home voluntarily, integrate locally or to resettle in a third country. It also has a mandate to help stateless people.
Since 1950, the agency has helped tens of millions of people restart their lives. Today, a staff of more than 9,300 people in 123 countries continues to help and protect millions of refugees, returnees, internally displaced and stateless people.
UNHCR is looking for qualified candidates to coach and train staff members in professional editing/writing and reporting. The candidate will provide individual and group sessions to staff and extend her/is help when need.
Accurate and well-presented information will promote UNHCR action for refugees, contribute to good decision making, and advance a positive image of the organization.
2. Duties and Responsibilities
(Concise and detailed description of activities, tasks and responsibilities to be undertaken, including expected travel, if applicable)
1. Coaching
- Carry out individual sessions for coaching staff members on improving their writing/editing and reporting skills.
- Provide feedback on internal and external UNHCR Egypt documents, emails, etc.
- Deliver immediate support on reports created by various units and provide advice for mprovement.
- Assist staff with their areas of improvement with regard to writing effectively and reporting their missions, projects and other relevant topics within UNHCR Egypt’s work context.
2- Training
- Deliver training for separate units on how to present their deliverables.
- Introduce modern writing and reporting techniques and provide proper training accordingly.
- Organize meetings with units for discussing their needs with respect to reports and work communications; design customized training programs based on specific needs.
- Perform other duties as required.
Part time: 20 hours per week.
3. Monitoring and Progress Controls
(Clear description of measurable outputs, milestone, key performance indicators and/or reporting requirements which will enable performance monitoring)
- General guidance and support are received from the Human Resources Officer. Guidance may also be given by the various specialised units in the office.
- The incumbent should be able to work under minimum supervision, be creative and innovative.
- The incumbent is responsible to report all deliverables to her/is respective supervisor regularly.
- Commitment to continuous learning about UNHCR and its areas of concern in order to provide proper support.
- In charge of handling all facilitations with regarding to delivering trainings and organizing one-on-one coaching sessions.
- Check reports from management.
