Brief description
The position of sale engineer consists of selling business goods orservices, the selling of which requires a technical backgroundequivalent to a baccalaureate degree in engineering.
Tasks
• searching for new clients who might benefit from companyproducts or services and maximizing client potential indesignated regions;
• Confer with customers and engineers to assess equipmentneeds and to determine system requirements;
• Develop, present, or respond to proposals for specificcustomer requirements, including request for proposalresponses and industry-specific solutions;
• Diagnose problems with installed equipment;
• Plan and modify product configurations to meet customerneeds;
• Prepare and deliver technical presentations that explainproducts or services to customers and prospective customers;
• Arranging and carrying out product training;
• Provide technical and non-technical support and services toclients or other staff members regarding the use, operation, and maintenance of equipment;
• Recommend improved materials or machinery tocustomers, documenting how such changes will lower costsor increase production;
• Secure and renew orders and arrange delivery;
• preparing reports for head office and keeping customerrecords;
• Sell products requiring extensive technical expertise andsupport for installation and use, such as material handlingequipment, numerical-control machinery, and computersystems.
